10th Edition Editorial Note

Welcome to the 10th edition of our online journal, the first publication of the year 2021. This publication comes at a time when our National Working Committee has sat and resolved to dedicating the political year 2021 to “The New student”, a student whose presence in the sector will likely change the future of the Post Schooling education and training sector in our nation beyond the covid-19 pandemic that has fastened forced to employ digital means for teaching and learning in our country.

The 21st NWC this year will be ushering the student movement to its 3rd decade of the student movement, a topical issue in our country that will need us to reflect on 30 years of service to the student body of our country. We will invite students and members of the public to reflect on student struggles waged by SASCO, our victories and setbacks while trying to contemplate the struggles ahead in higher education. True to the founding principle of this journal, a breaking ground platform for the battle of progressive ideas, this edition is dedicated to publishing responses to the articles published during the year 2020. While we have received only one response so far we encourage our readers to pen responses where they disagree with the articles featured in our online journal.

Comrade Pedro Mzimeli responds to the article first published in our publication titled, “Education institutions in Makhanda must lead the rescue conversation of the Municipality for their own sake, as well.” The response contained in this edition by Cde Pedro is titled, “Municipal factions won’t temper higher education: A response to Sive “Madala” Gumenge.”

The views shared here remain the views of the author and not that of the organisation or the editorial team of the journal.
