The South African Students Congress (SASCO) has taken note of Circular No.3 of 2021 from NSFAS which speaks of consideration to cut funding for certain qualifications.

We have written to both NSFAS Chairperson and Minister of Science Innovation and Higher Education to speedily give clarity on the circular as we strongly believe that the circular seeks to advance the systematic exclusions which we are fight within the Higher Education Sector.

We have given both NSFAS & DHET until Friday, 26 February 2021 to respond to our letter and communicate with the public. Failure to respond positively shall be nothing but an invitation to protest to the South African Students Congress.

We wish to call on all Western Cape Citizens to join the South African Students Congress (SASCO) on Wednesday, 24 February 2021 as we will be picketing outside Parliament as the Reactionary Minister delivers the budget speech. We will stop at nothing but ensuring that the 9 Billion budget cut at NSFAS is reversed and that the planned 6 Billion cut for the next 3 years is stopped.
