SASCO worried about slow pace of delivery of laptops and 33% of returning students

SASCO notes the snail pace of delivery on gadgets and data by government and institutions of higher learning especially in the Historically Disadvantaged Institutions (HDI’s) and Technical and Vocational and Training (TVET) Colleges. This has resulted in many students being unable to submit their assignments and other academic projects including virtual teaching and learning.

We call on our structures to monitor this process closely and ensure that students can be able to complete their academic year without being excluded. Where there has not been a delivery of gadgets and data to students we call on academics not to enforce the due dates for submissions of assignments and examinations where necessary.

Provincial visits

The National Executive Committee is going to be embarking on Provincial visits to assess the state of readiness for the return to teaching and learning as pronounced by a government that about 33% of certain students would return to campuses and residences.

From the 7th to the 10th of July we will be sending NEC deployees to assess the state of readiness and overall compliance with regulations set out by the cabinet. The NEC will after the campus assessments pronounce itself on the future of the post-schooling and training sector.
