SASCO STATEMENT ON THE Israel – Palestine CONFLICT

The South African Students Congress (SASCO) reaffirms its support to the people of Palestine in their struggle for freedom and self-determination
The organisation has noted with anger the continued violence against the people of Palestine by the oppressive state of Israel. As an organisation we condemned these acts when Israel apartheid senseless government killed innocent Palestinians in Gaza, and stole the land of Palestinians land and property. As an organisation we once again condemn the unlawful eviction of Palestinians from their land and homes in Sheikh al Jarrah and brutal attacks on Palestinian protestors at Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.

We call on ANC led government to remove the Israel embassy in South Africa. This will be programmatic translation of the ANC’s long held view and conference resolution of the ANC. We do not seek any foreign thing from the ANC but implementation of its conference resolution. We further call on the international community and UN in particular to be decisive and move beyond condemnation of Israel apartheid and move to call on its member states to impose sanctions on the Israel apartheid government.

The future of humanity and Palestine is forever threatened because of silence of people from the international community on the Israel land occupation and crimes against humanity. As an organisation we will continue to call on DHET and our institutions of higher learning to stop doing business with Israel government and its companies.

As the students movement we will hold pickets in front of the Israel Embassy and demand their immediate removal from South Africa on the following details;

Date; 19 May 2021 (Wednesday)
Venue; Israel Embassy (Pretoria)
Time; 12:00 PM

We call on all our members, sympathisers, supporters, progressives and all peace loving people to join us in the noble fight against the brutality and human rights violation.
