SASCO is disturbed by the allegations of assault of a woman by deputy minister of Higher Education and Training Mduduzi Manana

The South African Student Congress is taken aback by the allegations of assault against women levelled against the Deputy minister of Higher education Mduduzi Manana. We take these allegations very seriously and we call on the law enforcement agencies to fast track the investigation of the matter.

Mduduzi Manana should have known better as the leader of higher education HEAIDS program that seeks to address gender-based violence in our institutions. He must know that laying a hand on a woman is unforgivable, dehumanisation he must face the harsh realities of the law.

Violence against women dehumanisation; Cde Manana stripped of the identity of this young woman, yet our role as leaders of society is to ensure that we restore women consciousness and the role they play in society as human beings. It is saddening that this sadistic act occurs during the women’s month.

Women are still exposed to oppressive conditions that manifest from the patriarchal system. The patriarchal system remains as an organ of capitalism used to sharpen class contradictions and further divided the working class. Hence, women will be fully emancipated in a classless society. However, it is our duty as revolutionaries that we lead the struggle for women to be liberated, because if women are not liberated; people are not yet free.

We call on all our structures to have programs during this month that seeks empower women across the country and commemorate the contribution made by women in the struggle.

DOWN WITH WOMEN ABUSE…DOWN!!!
