The South African Students Congress (SASCO) has noted the media reports by City Press on Sunday 3 April 2022, alleging that the Department of Finance has not paid the government bursary scheme what is due to it.

Understanding the importance of the National Students Financial Aid Scheme and the role it plays in sustaining the livelihood of the students on and off campus inline to our Living and Learning.

We have thus on Monday, 4 April 2022 written to the Minister of Finance Mr. Enoch Godongwana to seek clarity on the matter and further set Wednesday, 6 April 2022 as a day in which is the latest for him to address and respond to us.

We have lost lives of students before due to non-payments of living allowances and Tuition, because generally students are hauled by lots of anxiety therefore we don’t wish for them to be frustrated any further.
