SASCO to Launch Political School

The South African Student’s Congress will launch its political school in Mpumalanga Province Mbombela from 6-8 April 2018. The Political School will be attended by SASCO Provincial Officials, Regional Chairs and Secretaries of all Provinces. This follows a decision by the Special NEC Meeting which resolved to intensify political education to sharpen its members.

SASCO has been accorded respect within the mass Democratic Movement for being a fish river of intellectuals, it has produced many revolutionary intellectuals who now serve in the upper echelons of mass Democratic Movement structures.

Every gathering of SASCO was a political school, the culture of debate, reading and writing was a hobby to our leaders. This to a certain extent motivated students to join SASCO because of its ability to provide a clear perspective on the current status quo and balance of class forces.

We have diagnosed that in the past 6 years leadership race has surpassed policy discussions within our structures. This corrosive tendency has weakened SASCO’s fighting capacity in the institutions of higher learning.

Consistent with our renewal program we have resolved that in order to take SASCO back to its former glory, we need to rollout political education programs to usher in a new cadre. These programs must be within the context of the current balance of forces and the conditions confronting us.
