SASCO celebrates landslide victory in Nelson Mandela University

The South African Student’s Congress celebrates the landslide victory in Nelson Mandela University. This overwhelming victory sends an indubitable message that students have full confidence in SASCO and the PYA, in general, to better represent them.

The winning back of NMU from DA student wing-DASO is significant not only to SASCO but the entire Mass Democratic Movement; this victory should serve as a torch bearer to the ANC in the metro. The triumph of SASCO over DASO in DA-led metro chastise the public narration that students and the community of Nelson Mandela have lost hope in the ANC and the student movement.

Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to unlock the world” The institution and world will be celebrating 100 years of Tata Nelson Mandela next year, we are pleased that SASCO will head such events. The ideals of Nelson Mandela remain the epitome of the future we seek to build.

The reclaiming of control in all Walter Sisulu University (WSU) means is an indication that students believe that SASCO is their only spear and the shield when confronted by challenges. We must advocate for their interest without compromise.

We congratulate SASCO and ANCYL in WSU Mthatha campus for their realisation that student issues are above our personal ambitions, the programmatic unity of PYA is pivotal for the pursuit of our struggle.

These results come as the results of sacrifices, dedication, and commitment from our members and activist. We thank all structures in the Province for their Sterling working under circumstances.

Our members must continue serving students selflessly without any ulterior motive. We must never take this task for granted but use it to the best of our ability to serve students diligently.

We wish to thank the ANC EC leadership for their visible and palpable support in these SRC elections; your support will go down to history books for having restored hegemony in the Nelson Mandela University just a few months before a 100-year celebration of Tata Madiba.

Lastly; to our Deployees the work begins now, you must know that where ever you go you carry the name of SASCO, humble yourselves before students and have the thirst to provide leadership in all student related issues.
